Message from Executive Director Buddy Rizer: 

As we all grind through our busy lives and deal with all that is buzzing around us, I think it’s important to take a moment to celebrate the wins in life. In our line of work, often we are on to the next deal before the last deal is done, (and fortunately in Loudoun there have been a lot of great wins over my 18 years in the county). That's why today, I am happy to share some great news with you, both for our economy and for our team at Loudoun County Economic Development (DED).

First, we are happy announce that Sky Harbour, an innovative company develops, leases, and manages general aviation hangars across the United States, has signed a 50-year lease at Dulles International Airport. Our team and I, along with our partners at the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), have been working on this project for 3 years, culminating with unanimous support from the Board of Supervisors on January 22nd. Sky Harbour will invest over $104 million and create over 400 local jobs. Sky Harbour cited our strategic location, strong business environment and top-notch workforce as some of the key decision points for their site selection. Loudoun offers an incredible combination of resources and opportunity, that's why we say that in our community, business success is #LoudounPossible.

Second, I wanted to take a moment to brag on my team at DED. This incredible group of talented professionals show dedication and tenacity every single day and I am lucky to work with each of them. So, it is with great pride that I note that Loudoun Economic Development has officially been recognized as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO). This is a great honor, and places us among an elite group working in our field. DED is only the third organization in Virginia and one of just 85 worldwide organizations to achieve this distinction. Of course, none of this happens without the support of our Board of Supervisors, County Administration (thanks Tim and Erin!), our partner organizations in and outside of the government, and our outstanding business community.
