Launch Loudoun Monthly: Celebrate Small Business Week (May 4 - 10) with Launch Loudoun

Milk1

Loudoun County will celebrate Small Business Week from May 4 through May 10 with a series of programs and events to engage and support local businesses.

On Tuesday, May 6, Loudoun Economic Development will host the Launch Loudoun Small Business Summit, bringing together business owners, service providers, and local leaders for presentations and networking. While the event is at capacity, we are still accepting names for the waitlist. If you would like to be added to the waitlist, please submit here.

Throughout the week, small business visits will also take place across each of Loudoun’s magisterial districts. These visits typically include a brief presentation by the business, a facility tour if available, and a Q&A session with the District Supervisor and/or Chair Phyllis Randall.

As part of ongoing efforts under the Loudoun Resilience Initiative, the department is partnering with The Building People, a seven-time Inc. 5000 award recipient, to host GovConnect 2025, a premier event designed to foster connections between talent, federal employers, and key regional resources, on Thursday, May 8, at The Depot in Leesburg. This networking event is intended to help displaced government contractors connect with recruiters and businesses that are currently hiring in the government contracting space. Foundations of Finance:

Key Knowledge Every Small Business Owner Needs

As a small business owner, understanding how money comes into and out of your business is crucial to the long-term success and sustainability of your business. Throughout 2025, Loudoun Economic Development is offering a variety of classes in their Ashburn office, hosted by Cheryl Wiehn, that will walk you through the essential financial concepts every entrepreneur should know, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, e-commerce, financial reports and budgeting. You’ll learn how to interpret and leverage these tools to make informed decisions, avoid common financial pitfalls, and ensure the financial health of your business.

As a tool for tracking your business finances, a high-level overview of QuickBooks will be reviewed at each class.

Small Business Spotlight

Meet Dr. Nina Niu and Dr. Rebecca Santos, Pediatric Housecalls

Pediatric Housecalls has launched in Loudoun County, offering a unique and convenient healthcare option. The service provides medical care for common pediatric illnesses such as strep throat and ear infections, as well as sports physicals, from the comfort of the patient’s home.

The practice has no membership fees and is in-network with most commercial health insurance plans. Pediatric Housecalls does not replace families’ regular pediatrician, but rather offers an additional option for last-minute wellness needs. Families can self-schedule appointments with a board-certified pediatrician.
