Holiday Message from Executive Director Buddy Rizer:
As we wind down another remarkable year in Loudoun County, I’ve been thinking about how unique this community truly is. We’ve had years filled with growth before, but 2025 had its own rhythm. Some of you may know that one of my long-standing traditions is putting together a playlist of my favorite holiday songs for family and friends, so it's only fitting to say that this year in Loudoun hit all the right notes. In fact, if our economy were a playlist, 2025 would have been filled with big hits, interesting twists, and exciting new artists.
From Ashburn’s growing innovation engine to the old-fashioned charm of our towns and villages, the energy across Loudoun is unmistakable. Businesses opened. Businesses expanded. Entrepreneurs took chances. Global brands doubled down. And through it all, Loudoun continued to prove why it’s the place where big ideas don’t just land - they thrive.
Of course, the real magic isn’t in the numbers (even though I love a good chart).
It’s in the people:
- The small business owner who poured their savings—and their heart—into a downtown storefront.
- The cyber professional working to protect his company from attack.
- The data center technician earning a new certification (possibly at 2 a.m., because the internet doesn’t take holidays).
- The farmer finding new ways to grow, produce, and innovate.
- The workforce partners building pathways for the next generation.
- All the people at Dulles Airport, ensuring safe and easy travel for all of us.
- And all of you—our residents, business leaders, and community partners—who make Loudoun not just successful, but special.
What I love most about this job, and this place, is that Loudoun has never been afraid to dream big. And when the dreams get big enough, we don’t say, “That’s impossible.” We say, #LoudounPossible.
Heading into the new year, we face both tremendous opportunity and the responsibility that comes with a rapidly evolving economy. But I’m confident in our future because Loudoun doesn’t shy away from challenges—we collaborate, innovate, and make progress together. I’ve seen it every day for nearly two decades.
So, as you gather with family and friends this season, I hope you’ll feel proud of what this community has accomplished...and excited for what’s ahead.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, your support, and yes, even your tough feedback, because I value open dialogue and truly respect differing opinions.
From all of us at Loudoun Economic Development, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and may 2026 bring prosperity, joy, and a little bit of peace—both for you and for your inbox.
P.S. If you'd like an Apple Music or Spotify link to this year's playlist, please let me know. I'd be happy to share.
Best wishes for an incredible holiday season,
Buddy
