Jess's Thoughts: Hi! I'm Jessica Park, Business Development Manager for Cybersecurity at Loudoun Economic Development. Every month, we bring together the cybersecurity community at Loudoun CyberTech to hear from industry leaders, make connections, share ideas, and shape the future of cybersecurity.
Operational Technology (OT) is one of those areas that’s moving quickly to the critical security category. As more of the systems that keep our world running, like energy, water, power, transportation, and manufacturing, are connected, the risk is no longer just about data. It’s about real-world impact. When OT systems are disrupted, the consequences don’t stay in a network, they show up in operations, safety, and everyday life.
Have questions about the cybersecurity industry in Loudoun County? Feel free to reach out!
Here in Loudoun County, that reality is especially tangible. With the world’s largest concentration of data centers and the infrastructure required to power and support them, OT is woven into how this region functions. From energy and cooling systems to the broader supply chain that keeps everything online, security these environments in foundational.
The exciting part is Loudoun is uniquely positioned to lead this space. We have the cyber expertise, strong ties to federal partners thinking about critical infrastructure protection, and a growing community of companies working at this intersection of cyber and physical systems. The opportunity now is to connect hose dots more intentionally!
OT security isn’t just a trend. It’s becoming a defining part of how we think about resilience and growth. For Loudoun, it’s an area where we don’t just have a stake, we can shape what comes next!
Loudoun CyberTech: Cybersecurity in Food and Agriculture
Do you know how to protect what feeds us? What about that protection to begin with – ever thought about it?
Join us for an eye-opening evening with our spotlight speaker, Kristin King, CEO of AnzenOT & AnzenSage!
In this session, Kristin King pulls back the curtain on the invisible systems powering our food supply and what’s at risk when they’re disrupted. From farm to distribution to global supply chains, she explores how cyber threats can ripple far beyond the field, impacting economies, security, and daily life.
Kristin is a cyber and OT risk expert focused on protecting critical food and agriculture systems. As CEO of AnzenOT and AnzenSage, and VP of Food Cybersecurity at CSAFI, she brings a rare, systems – level perspective shaped by more than 25 years in technology and environmental work.
For those who couldn't attend our last event with TraudeLinde Clark, "Great (Cyber) Teams Win on Basics," we've got you covered. You can view the presentation slides here.
Operational Technology for the Quality of Life in Loudoun County
Operational technology, or OT, is the quiet, behind‑the‑scenes technology that keeps the physical world around us running safely, reliably, and on time. It monitors and controls things like pumps, valves, switches, and motors in our water systems, power grid, traffic lights, building controls, data centers, and factories.
If Information Technology (IT) is about emails, apps, and data, OT is about clean water at the tap, lights that turn on when you flip the switch, and a school day that isn’t canceled because a boiler failed overnight.
