Message from Executive Director Buddy Rizer:

Summer has always been my favorite time of year. The longer days, community events, and renewed energy across Loudoun remind me why so many people choose to live, work, and invest here. As we begin a new fiscal year at Loudoun Economic Development, that same sense of optimism carries into our work, giving us an opportunity to reflect on the momentum we've built together while looking ahead to what's next.

It is an exciting time for our community. As Loudoun continues to grow and diversify, we remain focused on ensuring our economy evolves with purpose, creating opportunities that strengthen our competitive position and enhance the quality of life our residents expect.

We are seeing this transformation firsthand in our walkable, amenity-rich communities. The recent ribbon-cutting of Rivana at Innovation Station marks a major milestone, signaling the kind of high-impact development that will define our future and create opportunity as a transformative, Metro-connected, mixed-use development. We are also watching with excitement as One Loudoun enters a new phase, adding 400 luxury apartments, a full-service business hotel, and trophy Class A office space alongside new lifestyle retail. Similarly, the energy is growing at Kincora with the opening of Pinstack, and we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming phase and new businesses joining our home base at Loudoun Station. These projects will fulfill the demand for premier office space as well as provide the infrastructure and foundation for the connected, pedestrian-friendly communities that employers, consumers, workers, and residents desire.

As we look ahead, we are placing an even greater emphasis on attracting new businesses to establish their corporate headquarters in Loudoun. We are committed to growing our key business sectors while cultivating emerging industries, ensuring Loudoun remains a premier destination for talent, innovation, and investment. We know that long-term economic resilience depends on thoughtful diversification.

Internally, part of our renewal involves a deeper commitment to the entrepreneurs and small businesses that are key definers of our economy. I am particularly excited about our revamped technical services program, LoudounBizConnect, through Launch Loudoun, which we officially re-launched this year. By providing targeted resources and support, we are ensuring that our local businesses have exactly what they need to thrive in a competitive market.

And finally, I am pleased to share that we are expanding our team to meet the growing demands of one of the nation's most dynamic business communities. I'd like to welcome Sarah Miller, who has joined the Department as our new Deputy Director. Sarah brings an incredible wealth of expertise to Loudoun, having served as a principal at SKM Strategies for the past seven and a half years, where she specialized in organizational development, economic development, and strategic planning. Her background, which includes leadership roles at the University of Maryland’s tech campus, BioHealth Innovation, the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, makes her a vital addition to our leadership team.

The road ahead is full of #LoudounPossible potential, and I am proud to be working alongside you all as we continue to shape the future.

Happy New Fiscal Year,

Buddy
